These recordings have been included to demonstrate some of the physical and acoustical properties of my instrument. Of particular note is the imbalance of tone quality and precise pitch caused by the vent holes. Although for the most part I have tried to play each note as it lies on the instrument, I am sure that Weidinger himself would have been used to ‘lipping’ notes and could have easily dealt with many of the imperfections of his instrument.

Whilst it is possible to apply the same techniques to my playing, I have chosen to present these ‘uncorrected’ recordings to highlight some of the inherent weaknesses of the keyed trumpet.
